PANDA EXTRA tablets contain two active ingredients. Paracetamol is a painkiller and reduces your temperature when you have a fever. Caffeine acts to further help the effectiveness of paracetamol.
What PANDA EXTRA is used for:
PANDA EXTRA tablets are suitable for the relief of headache, migraine, backache, rheumatic pain, toothache, and period pain. They also relieve the fever, aches and pains of colds and flu.
A. Do not take PANDA EXTRA if:
- You have ever had an allergic reaction to paracetamol, caffeine or any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6).
- If you are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medicines containing paracetamol to treat pain, fever, symptoms of cold and flu, or to aid sleep.
B. Ask your doctor before you take this medicine:
- If you have liver or kidney disease.
- If you are underweight or malnourished.
- If you regularly drink alcohol.
- If you have a severe infection as this may increase the risk of metabolic acidosis.
Signs of metabolic acidosis include:
- deep, rapid, difficult breathing
- feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting)
- loss of appetite
Contact a doctor immediately if you get a combination of these symptoms. You may need to avoid using this product altogether or limit the amount of paracetamol that you take.
C. Taking other medicines:
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking these tablets if you are taking any prescribed medicines; particularly metoclopramide or domperidone (for nausea [feeling sick] or vomiting [being sick]) or colestyramine (to lower blood cholesterol). If you take blood thinning drugs (anticoagulants e.g. warfarin) and you need to take a pain reliever on a daily basis, talk to your doctor because of the risk of bleeding. But you can still take occasional doses of PANDA EXTRA tablets at the same time as anticoagulants. This product is not recommended if you are taking lithium.
- Phenytoin may reduce the analgesic and antipyretic effects of paracetamol and may increase the formation of the toxic N-acelyl-p-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI) metabolite of paracetamol leading lo increased risk of hepatotoxicity.
D. Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Due to the caffeine content of this product it should not be used if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Adults and children aged 16 years and over:
Swallow 2 Tablets every 4 hours as needed.
• Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
• Do not take more than 8 Tablets in 24 hours.
Children aged 12-15 years:
Swallow 1 tablet every 4 hours as needed. Do not give more than 4 tablets in 24 hours.
• Do not take more frequently than every 4 hours.
• Do not take more than the recommended dose.
• Do not give to children under 12 years.
• Avoid too much caffeine in drinks like coffee and tea.
High caffeine intake can cause difficulty sleeping, shaking and an uncomfortable feeling in the chest. If your symptoms continue or your headache becomes persistent, see your doctor.
If you take more Panda Extra than you should:
Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of overdose, even if you feel well because of the risk of delayed, serious liver damage.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Like all medicines, PANDA EXTRA can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
A small number of people have had side effects. Very rare cases of serious skin reactions have been reported.
Stop taking the medicine and tell your doctor immediately if you experience:
• Allergic reactions which may be severe such as skin rash and itching sometimes with swelling of the mouth or face or shortness of breath.
• Skin rash or peeling, or mouth ulcers.
• Breathing problems. These are more likely if you have experienced them before when taking other painkillers such as ibuprofen and aspirin.
• Unexplained bruising or bleeding.
• Nausea, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite and yellowing of the eyes and skin.

If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.

• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
• Do not use PANDA EXTRA after the expiry date which is stated on the label and carton.
• This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
• Do not use any PANDA EXTRA pack that is damaged or shows signs of tampering.
• Store below 30°C.

تحتوي أقراص باندا إكسترا على مادتين فعالتين. الباراسيتامول وهو مسكن للألم ويعمل على تخفيض درجة حرارتك إذا كان لديك حمى والكافيين يزيد من فعالية الباراسيتامول.
دواعي استعمال باندا إكسترا :
أقراص باندا إكسترا مناسبة للتخفيف من الصداع، الصداع النصفي، ألم الظهر، ألم الروماتيزم، ألم الأسنان، و ألم الدورة الشهرية. كما تساعد في التخفيف من الحمى، الآلام، و ألم نزلات البرد و الإنفلونزا.
أ . لا تتناول باندا إكسترا :
- إذا كنت تعاني من حساسية (فرط حساسية ) ضد الباراسيتامول، الكافيين أو أي من المكونات الأخرى (المذكورة في بند 6)
- إذا كنت تتناول أي أدوية أخرى بوصفة طبية أو بدون وصفة طبية تحتوي على باراسيتامول لعلاج الألم و الحمى و أعراض البرد و الانفلونزا أو للمساعدة على النوم.
ب . اسأل الطبيب قل استخدام هذا الدواء :
- إذا كنت تعاني من مرض في الكبد أو الكلى.
- إذا كنت تعاني من نقص الوزن أو سوء التغذية.
- إذا كنت تتناول الكحول بانتظام.
- إذا كنت مصاب بعدوى شديدة لأن هذا قد يزيد من خطر الإصابة بالحماض الاستقلابي.
تشمل أعراض الحماض الاستقلابي ما يلي:
- التنفس بصعوبة و بسرعة و بشكل عميق.
- الشعور بالغثيان، القيء.
- فقدان الشهية.
اتصل بالطبيب على الفور إذا حصلت على مزيج من هذه الأعراض. قد تحتاج إلى تجنب استخدام هذا الدواء تماما أو الحد من كمية الباراسيتامول التي تتناولها.
ج . تناول أدوية أخرى :
- تحدث مع الطبيب أو الصيدلاني قبل أخذ هذه الأقراص إذا كنت تأخذ أدوية بوصفة طبية، و بخاصة ميتوكلوبراميد أو الدومبريدون ( للغثيان - الشعور بالمرض - أو التقيؤ - أن تكون مريضا- ) أو الكوليسترامين (لتخفيض كوليسترول الدم). إذا كنت تأخذ أدوية ترقق الدم (مضادات التخثر مثل الوارفرين) و كنت بحاجة لأخذ مسكن ألم يوميا، تحدث مع الطبيب بسبب مخاطر النزيف. و لكن من الممكن أن تأخذ جرعات من أقراص باندا إكسترا من حين لآخر بنفس الوقت مع مضادات التخثر. لا تتناول هذا الدواء إذا كنت تتناول الليثيوم.
- قد يقلل الفينيتوين من التأثيرات المسكنة و خافضة الحرارة للباراسيتامول و قد يزيد من تكوين المستقلب السام للباراسيتامول (ن-أسيتيل بارا-بنزوكينون إمين) (NAPQI) مما يؤدي إلى زيادة خطر التسمم الكبدي.
د . الحمل و الإرضاع :
ينبغي عدم استخدام هذا الدواء إذا كنت حامل أو مرضع بسبب احتواء هذا المنتج على الكافيين.
إستشيري طبيبك أو الصيدلاني قبل تناول أي دواء.
البالغين والأطفال أكثر من 16 سنة :
إبلع قرصين كل 4 ساعات حسب الحاجة.
· لا تأخذه بتكرار أكثر من كل 4 ساعات.
· لا تأخذ أكثر من 8 حبات كل 24 ساعة.
الأطفال بين 12 و 15 سنة :
إبلع قرصا واحدا كل 4 ساعات حسب الحاجة. لا تعط أكثر من 4 أقراص خلال 24 ساعة.
· لا تأخذ أكثر من مرة كل 4 ساعات.
· لا تأخذ أكثر من الجرعة الموصى بها.
· لا يعطى للأطفال دون سن ال 12 عام.
· تجنب تناول الكثير من الكافيين الموجود في المشروبات مثل القهوة والشاي.
تناول كميات كبيرة من الكافيين يمكن أن يسبب صعوبة في النوم، ارتعاش وشعور بعدم الراحة في الصدر.
إذا استمرت الأعراض أو أصبح الصداع مستمرا، راجع الطبيب.
إذا تناولت جرعة مفرطة من باندا إكسترا :
في حالات فرط الجرعة ينبغي التماس المشورة الطبية فورا، حتى إن كنت تشعر بأنك جيد وذلك بسبب خطر تلف الكبد الشديد المتأخر.
إذا كانت لديك أية أسئلة إضافية حول استخدام هذا الدواء ، اسأل الطبيب أو الصيدلاني .
مثل كل الأدوية، قد يسبب باندا إكسترا آثار جانبية على الرغم من عدم حدوثها لدى الجميع.
عدد قليل من الناس يتعرضون للآثار الجانبية. تم الإبلاغ عن حالات نادرة جدا من ردود فعل جلدية خطيرة.
توقف عن أخذ الدواء و أخبر الطبيب فورا إذا كنت تواجه:
· تفاعلات الحساسية التي قد تكون شديدة مثل الطفح الجلدي والحكة في بعض الأحيان مع تورم في الفم أو الوجه أو ضيق في التنفس.
· طفح جلدي أو تقشير، أو تقرحات الفم.
· مشاكل في التنفس. وهي أكثر احتمالا إذا كنت واجهتها من قبل عند أخذ مسكنات الألم الأخرى مثل الإيبوبروفين والأسبرين.
· كدمات أو نزيف غير مفسر.
· غثيان ،فقدان الوزن بشكل مفاجئ، فقدان الشهية، واصفرار في العينين و الجلد.

- لا تستخدم باندا إكسترا بعد انتهاء فترة الصلاحية المذكورة على اللاصق الداخلي و العبوة الخارجية.

Panda Extra Tablets are indicated for the relief of mild to moderate pain and fever from:
- Headache and migraine.
- Common colds and flu, sore throat and earache.
- Toothache.
- Backache, rheumatic, muscular pain and neuralgia.
- Period pain.
Oral use.
Panda Extra Tablets are suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age.
Adults: Two Tablets up to four times a day.
Not recommended for children under 12 years.
If necessary the dose may be repeated every 4 hours but do not exceed 4g / 24 hours.
This preparation contains Paracetamol. Do not take other Paracetamol containing medications at the same time. Don’t exceed the recommended dose. Avoid drinking too much coffee or tea when taking these Tablets. Use with caution in patients with alcoholic liver disease. It causes severe hepatic toxicity on acute overdose. Chronic daily dosing in adults has resulted in liver damage in some patients.
Consult a doctor if have severe liver or kidney problem before using this product.
Do not take this product for pain more than 10 days or for fever for more than 3 days unless directed by a doctor. If pain or fever persists or gets worse, if new symptoms occurs, or if redness and swelling is present, consult a doctor because these could be signs of a serious condition.
If sore throat is severe and persists for more than 2 days, is accompanied by fever, headache, rash, nausea or vomiting, consult doctor promptly.
Panda Extra Tablet may interact with anticoagulant agents on prothrombin time.
The liver effects of Panda Extra may be increased by the use of alcohol and the concomitant use of certain drugs which enhance the metabolism of Paracetamol in the liver (i.e. barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants).
Paracetamol may increase the levels/effects of vitamin K antagonists.
Paracetamol possibly inhibits metabolism of IV Buslfan. The levels/effects of Paracetamol may be increased by lmatinib and lsoniazid. The levels/effects of Paracetamol may be decreased by Hydantoin, Barbiturates, Carbamazepine, Cholestyramine Resin, Peg interferon Alfa-2b.
Pregnancy risk factor B. Although there is epidemiological evidence of the safety of Paracetamol in pregnancy and lactation, medical advice should be sought before using this product.

When taken in recommended doses, Panda Extra is usually free from side effects. However, skin reactions such as urticaria have been reported rarely. Blood disorder (including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, Neutropenia) and hypotension are reported.

Paracetamol:
Immediate medical management is required in the event of overdose for the risk of liver failure, even if symptoms of overdose are not present.
In massive over dosage exceeding 10g Paracetamol may cause liver damage. Early symptoms may include pallor, nausea, vomiting, (diaphoresis) and general malaise.
Clinical and laboratory evidence of liver damage may not be apparent until 48 to 72 hours post-ingestion. Overdose should be promptly treated by gastric lavage followed by intravenous N-acetylcysteine or methionine without waiting for the results of plasma Paracetamol levels. General supportive measures must be available. Additional antidote therapy is normally considered in light of further plasma Paracetamol levels and the time elapsed since ingestion.
Caffeine:
Overdose of caffeine may result in epigastric pain, vomiting, diuresis, tachycardia or cardiac arrhythmia, CNS stimulation (insomnia, restlessness, excitement, agitation, jitteriness, tremors and convulsions).
It must be noted that for clinically significant symptoms of caffeine overdose to occur with Paracetamol / Caffeine combination tablets, the amount ingested would be associated with serious paracetamol-related liver toxicity. There is no specific antidote is available, but supportive measures such may be used.
In all cases of suspected overdose, prompt medical attention is critical for adults as well as for children, even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms.

The combination of Paracetamol and Caffeine is a well established analgesic combination.
Paracetamol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. It is relatively uniformly distributed throughout most body fluids and exhibits variable protein binding. Excretion is almost exclusively renal, in the form of conjugated metabolites. Caffeine is absorbed readily after oral administration. Maximal plasma concentrations are achieved within one hour and the plasma half-life is about 3.5 hours. 65 - 80% of administered Caffeine is excreted in the urine as 1-methyluric acid and 1-methylxanthine.
Panda Extra 500mg/65mg Caplets contain a disintegrant system which accelerates caplet dissolution compared to standard Paracetamol and Caffeine Caplets.
Human pharmacokinetic data demonstrate that the time taken to reach plasma paracetamol threshold (4-7 mcg/ml) is at least 44% faster with Panda Extra 500mg/65mg Caplets compared with standard Paracetamol and Caffeine Caplets.
Total extent of absorption of Paracetamol and Caffeine from Panda Extra 500mg/65mg Caplets is equivalent to that from standard Paracetamol and Caffeine Caplets.
There are no pre-clinical data of relevance to the prescriber which are additional to that already included in other sections of the SPC.
