Your baby’s medicine is called Salinal. It is an antiflatulent which means that it helps to bring up wind or air trapped in the tummy.
Salinal is given to babies to relieve griping pain, infant colic or wind due to trapped air. It can be given from birth onwards. The pain associated with colic may be caused by the build-up of small gas bubbles trapped in your baby’s tummy.
Simethicone, the active ingredient in Salinal, helps all the little trapped gas bubbles join into bigger bubbles which your baby can easily bring up as wind.
Do not give Salinal and get advice from a doctor if your baby is being treated for a thyroid disorder.
Do not give Salinal if you think your baby might be allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of Salinal (see section 6 of this leaflet).
Using other medicines
If your baby is being treated with levothyroxine for a thyroid disorder using Salinal might reduce the amount of this type of medicine that is absorbed and weaken the effect of their treatment.
Important information of some ingredients of Salinal
Salinal contains methyl and propyl paraben, which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Follow the instructions about when and how to use the product. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Dose
Salinal is very simple to give, even when your baby is crying. The normal dose is half dropper (0.5mL) which should be given before each feed.
If after 3 or 4 days your baby’s colic still seems to be upsetting, you can double the dose to one dropper full (1mL). This may be especially useful at night, before the evening feed.
Salinal should be used for several days to achieve the best results, as treatment may show a progressive effect. Continued use may help to prevent a further build up of wind. You can continue to use Salinal for several weeks. However, if despite having increased the dose to one droppers full (1mL) and there is no improvement, or your baby seems to be getting worse, speak to your doctor.
Administration
· Gently shake the bottle.
· Draw up half dropper (0.5mL) by squeezing the bulb. Let the
excess Salinal on the outside of the dropper run back into the bottle.
· Administer the dose by squeezing the bulb and releasing the Salinal onto the back of your baby’s tongue.
Do not use the dropper for other medicines. Keep it for Salinal only.
If you give more Salinal than you should
If your baby (or an adult) accidentally swallows a large quantity of Salinal (such as a whole bottle full) it is highly unlikely to do any harm.
However, if the person who has taken it feels or looks unwell, you should seek medical advice.
If you forget to give Salinal
Do not worry if you forget to give your baby one or more doses. Simply give the next dose before the baby’s next feed.
If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Simethicone, the active ingredient in Salinal, is not absorbed into the baby’s body and is very unlikely to harm your baby.
It is very unusual for simethicone to cause any side effects.
Methyl and propyl paraben, which are also ingredients in Salinal, may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
- Do not use Salinal after the expiry date which is stated on the carton
and on the inner label.
- Store below 30°C. After opening use within one month.
- Do not use Salinal if you notice any visible sign of deterioration.
- Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household
waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
Active ingredient is simethicone.
Each 1mL of salinal contains 41.2mg simethicone.
Other ingredients: Methylcellulose, xanthan gum, polyethylene glycol, potassium sorbate, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, saccharin sodium, citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate, banana green flavour, and purified water.

إن الدواء الخاص بطفلك يعرف باسم سالينال والذي يعمل كمضاد للانتفاخ مما يساعد على التخلص من احتباس الغازات أو الهواء داخل البطن.
يعطى سالينال للأطفال الرضع لتخفيف الألم الحاد في البطن، المغص أو الغازات الناجمة عن احتباس الهواء. قد يعطى هذا الدواء للأطفال منذ عمر الولادة و ما فوق . وقد يكون الألم المصحوب للمغص ناتج عن تراكم فقاعات غازية صغيرة في بطن الطفل.
يعد سيميثيكون المادة الفعالة في سالينال، والذي يساعد على جعل الفقاعات الغازية الصغيرة تنضم لفقاعات غازية أكبر حجماً مما يساعد طفلك على التخلص من الغازات بسهولة على هيئة ريح.
يجب عدم إعطاء سالينال لطفلك، كما يرجى منك إستشارة الطبيب المعالج إذا كان طفلك يتلقى علاجاً لاضطرابات الغدة الدرقية.
يجب عدم إعطاء سالينال لطفلك إذا كنت تعتقد أنه يعاني من الحساسية (فرط الحساسية) تجاه أياً من مكونات سالينال (انظر بند رقم 6 في هذه النشرة).
استخدام الأدوية الأخرى بالتزامن مع سالينال
قد يؤدي تناول سالينال بالتزامن مع ليفوثيروكسين والذي يستخدم لعلاج اضطرابات الغدة الدرقية إلى خفض كمية هذا الدواء الذي تم امتصاصه في الجسم ويعمل على تقليل تأثير العلاج مع هذا الدواء.
معلومات هامة حول بعض مكونات سالينال
يحتوي سالينال على ميثيل بارابين و بروبيل بارابين. اللذان قد يسببان حدوث تفاعلات تحسسية (من المحتمل أن تظهر بصورة متأخرة).
يرجى منك اتباع الإرشادات حول متى وكيف يمكن استخدام هذا الدواء. يرجى منك التحقق مع الطبيب المعالج أو الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه إذا لم تكن متأكداً من كيفية إعطاء هذا الدواء.
الجرعة
طريقة إعطاء سالينال بسيطة جداً، حتى أنه يمكن إعطائه أثناء بكاء طفلك.
يبلغ مقدار الجرعة الاعتيادية نصف قطارة (0,5 ملليلتر) ويتم إعطائه للطفل قبل الرضاعة أو الطعام. بإمكانك مضاعفة مقدار الجرعة إلى قطارة واحدة كاملة (1 ملليلتر) في حال استمر المغص لمدة تزيد عن 3 – 4 أيام وبدأ الأمر يصبح مزعجاً لطفلك، وبصفة خاصة يكون ذلك مفيداً في الليل، قبل الرضاعة أو الطعام في المساء.
يجب استعمال سالينال لعدة أيام للحصول على النتائج المرجوة، حيث يظهر تأثير العلاج باستخدام هذا الدواء بصورة تدريجية، قد يساعد استعمال هذا الدواء بصورة مستمرة على منع تراكم المزيد من الغازات، يمكنك الاستمرار في استعمال سالينال لعدة أسابيع. يرجى منك استشارة الطبيب المعالج، في حال عدم وجود تحسن بالرغم من زيادة الجرعة إلى 1 ملليلتر، أو بدت حالة طفلك تزداد سوءاً.
طريقة الاستخدام
· قم برج الزجاجة برفق قبل الاستخدام.
· قم بسحب الجرعة الاعتيادية نصف قطارة (0,5 ملليلتر) عن طريق الضغط على
الجزء المطاطي من القطارة . و قم بإرجاع الكمية الزائدة من سالينال إلى الزجاجة.
· قم بإعطاء الجرعة من سالينال في الجزء الخلفي من لسان طفلك عن طريق الضغط
على الجزء المطاطي للقطارة .
لا تقم باستخدام القطارة الخاصة بسالينال لإعطاء دواء آخر. احتفظ بها لإعطاء سالينال فقط.
إذا أعطيت سالينال لطفلك بجرعة أكبر مما يجب
إذا قام طفلك (أو أي شخص بالغ) بابتلاع كمية كبيرة من سالينال عن طريق الخطأ (على سبيل المثال ابتلاع محتوى الزجاجة بأكمله)، من غير المحتمل أن يكون ضاراً بدرجة كبيرة.
على الرغم من ذلك، إذا شعر الشخص الذي قام بتناول هذا الدواء بالتوعك أو يشعر بأنه ليس على ما يرام ، يجب عليك طلب المشورة الطبية.
إذا سهوت عن إعطاء سالينال

- يحفظ الدواء في درجة حرارة أقل من 30 ºم. بعد فتح العلبة، يستخدم خلال شهر واحد.
- يجب عدم استعمال سالينال إذا لاحظت أي علامات تلف واضحة.
- يجب عدم التخلص من الأدوية عبر المياه المبتذلة (مياه الصرف الصحي) أو
النفايات المنزلية. اسأل الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه عن كيفية التخلص من الأدوية التي لم تعد بحاجة إليها. ستساعد هذه الإجراءات على حماية البيئة.
المادة الفعالة في سالينال هي سيميثيكون.
يحتوي كل 1 ملليلتر من سالينال على 41,2 ملغم من سيميثيكون.
المواد الغير فعالة: ميثيل السليلوز، صمغ زانثان، بولي إثيلين جلايكول، سوربات البوتاسيوم، ميثيل بارابين، بروبيل بارابين، سكارين الصوديوم، حمض الستريك أحادي الهيدرات، سترات الصوديوم، نكهة الموز الأخضر، وماء منقى.
تتوفر نقط سالينال في عبوات تحتوي كلاً منها على زجاجة واحدة (سعة 15 ملليلتر) مع قطارة معيارية.

In the event of deliberate or accidental overdose, treat symptoms on appearance.
Physiologically the active ingredient is a chemically inert, non-systemic gastric defoaming agent that works by altering the elasticity of interfaces of mucus-embedded bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract.
The gas bubbles are thus broken down or coalesced and in this form gas is more easily eliminated through eructation or passing flatus.
Simethicone is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
There are no preclinical data of relevance to the prescriber which are additional to that already included in other sections of the SPC.
