The name of this medicine is Mikostat.
This medicine contains nystatin as the active ingredient.
Nystatin belongs to a group of medicines called anti-fungal antibiotics.
Mikostat is prescribed for skin infections which are caused by yeasts and fungi.
This medicine works by killing the yeast or fungus that has caused your symptoms.
Do not use Mikostat:
- If you are allergic to nystatin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).
Take special care with Mikostat
If your skin becomes irritated or sensitive after using Mikostat, you should stop using it and tell your doctor.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might become pregnant or are breast-feeding.
Other medicines and Mikostat
Interactions with other medicines are not expected. Do not use any other skin products on the affected area without telling your doctor or pharmacist.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
This medicine for external use only on the skin.
Do not apply this medicine in your eyes.
Apply to affected area twice daily or as indicated until healing is complete.
If symptomatic relief occurs within the first few days of treatment, the patient should be advised not to interrupt or discontinue therapy until the prescribed course of treatment is completed.
If you use more Mikostat than you should
If, by mistake on a few occasions you use more than you should, do not worry. However, if you are worried, talk to your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible.
If you forget to use Mikostat
If you forget to apply Mikostat cream or ointment, apply it as soon as you remember, then carry on as before.
If it is close to the time you are next meant to apply it, wait until this time.
If you stop using Mikostat
If you use Mikostat regularly make sure you talk to your doctor before you stop using it.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Stop using Mikostat and tell your doctor as soon as possible if:
- You find your skin problem gets worse or becomes swollen during treatment. You may be allergic to this medicine or need other treatment.

By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information on the safety of this medicine.
- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
- Store below 30°C. Best use within one month of opening.
- Do not use Mikostat after the expiry date which is stated on the carton and on the tube.
- Do not use Mikostat if you notice any visible sign of deterioration.
- Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
What Mikostat contains
The active substance is Nystatin. Each gram of the cream or ointment contains nystatin 100,000 units.
Other ingredients
Cream: White soft paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol, cetomacrogol 1000, liquid
paraffin, methyl paraben, propyl paraben, sodium phosphate
monobasic, propylene glycol, purified water and sodium
phosphate dibasic (for PH adjustment).
Ointment: Hard paraffin, white soft paraffin, cetostearyl alcohol
and liquid paraffin.

يعرف هذا الدواء باسم ميكوستات.
يحتوي هذا الدواء على مادة النيستاتين كونها المادة الفعالة.
ينتمي نيستاتين إلى مجموعة الأدوية التي تعرف باسم المضادات الحيوية المضادة للفطريات.
يوصف ميكوستات لعدوى الجلد التي تسببها بعض أنواع الخمائر والفطريات.
يعمل هذا الدواء عن طريق قتل أنواع الخمائر والفطريات المسببة للأعراض.
يجب عدم استعمال ميكوستات:
- إذا كنت تعاني من الحساسية تجاه نيستاتين أو أي من المكونات الأخرى في هذا الدواء (المدرجة في البند رقم 6).
تحذيرات خاصة مع استعمال ميكوستات
إذا تهيج جلدك أو تحسس بعد استعمال ميكوستات، يجب أن تتوقف عن استعماله وإخبار الطبيب بذلك.
الحمل والرضاعة الطبيعية
يرجى منك التحدث إلى طبيبك أو الصيدلي قبل استعمال هذا الدواء ، إذا كنت حاملاً، تعتقدين أنك حاملاً أو ترضعين طفلك رضاعة طبيعية.
استعمال ميكوستات والأدوية الأخرى
ليس من المتوقع حدوث تفاعلات مع الأدوية الأخرى. لا تستخدم أي من المنتجات الجلدية الأخرى على المنطقة المصابة دون ابلاغ طبيبك أو الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه.
يجب استعمال ميكوستات دائماً بدقة وفقاً لتعليمات الطبيب. كما يجب عليك استشارة الطبيب أو الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه ما لم تكن متأكداً من طريقة الاستعمال.
هذا الدواء للاستعمال الخارجي فقط على الجلد.
تجنب ملامسته للعينين.
قم بوضع هذا الدواء على المنطقة المصابة مرتين يومياً أو كما هو موصى به حتى الشفاء التام.
في حال تحسن الأعراض في غضون بضعة أيام من العلاج، فيجب أن تُقدم المشورة للمريض بعدم التوقف عن تلقي العلاج حتى يتم الانتهاء من الدورة العلاجية الموصى بها.
إذا استعملت ميكوستات بكمية أكثر مما ينبغي عليك استعمالها
إذا استعملت عن طريق الخطأ في عدة أوقات قليلة ميكوستات بكمية أكثر مما ينبغي، فلا تقلق فإن ذلك لن يتسبب في حدوث أية مشاكل.
ولكن إذا كنت تشعر بالقلق حيال ذلك الأمر، تحدث إلى طبيبك أو الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه في أقرب وقت ممكن .
إذا سهوت عن استعمال ميكوستات
إذا سهوت عن استعمال كريم أو مرهم ميكوستات، فيجب عليك استعماله في أسرع وقت ممكن حال تذكره، ثم الإستمرار في متابعة العلاج وفقاً للإرشادات.
إذا كان موعد الجرعة التالية قد اقترب، فيرجى منك الانتظار حتى هذا الوقت
إذا توقفت عن استعمال ميكوستات
إذا كنت تستعمل ميكوستات بانتظام، فيرجى منك التحدث إلى طبيبك قبل التوقف عن استعماله.
إذا كان لديك مزيد من الاستفسارات التي تخص استعمال هذا المستحضر، اتصل بطبيبك أو الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه.
شأنه شأن جميع الأدوية، قد يؤدي ميكوستات إلى حدوث تأثيرات جانبية، ولكن قد لا تحدث لكل شخص.
توقف عن استعمال ميكوستات واخبر طبيبك على الفور في الحالة التالية:
- إذا شعرت أن حالة الجلد لديك تزداد سوءاً أو في حال حدوث تورم أثناء العلاج.
حيث أنك قد تعاني من الحساسية تجاه هذا الدواء أو قد تكون بحاجة إلى علاج أخر.

يرجى منك إخبار طبيبك المعالج، الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه أو الممرض، في حال حدوث أياً من التأثيرات الجانبية، بما في ذلك أية تأثيرات جانبية يحتمل حدوثها ولم يتم ذكرها في هذه النشرة.

إن تسجيل التأثيرات الجانبية يساعد في توفير المزيد من المعلومات حول سلامة هذا الدواء.
- يحفظ بعيداً عن متناول ومرأى الأطفال.
- يحفظ في درجة حرارة أقل من 30ºم. يفضل استخدامه خلال شهر واحد من الفتح.
- يجب عدم استعمال ميكوستات بعد تاريخ انتهاء الصلاحية المذكور على العبوة والأنبوب.
- يجب عدم استعمال ميكوستات إذا لاحظت وجود علامات تلف واضحة.
- يجب عدم التخلص من الأدوية عبر المياه المبتذلة (مياه الصرف الصحي) أو النفايات المنزلية. اسأل الصيدلي الذي تتعامل معه عن كيفية التخلص من الأدوية التي لم تعد بحاجة إليها. ستساعد هذه الإجراءات على حماية البيئة.
ماهي محتويات ميكوستات
المادة الفعالة هي نيستاتين. يحتوي كل 1 غرام من الكريم أو المرهم على 100,000 وحدة.
المواد الأخرى هي:
كريم: بارافين أبيض طري، كحول سيتوستيريل، سيتوماكروجول 1000، بارافين سائل، ميثيل
البارابين، بروبيل البارابين، فوسفات الصوديوم أحادي القاعدة، بروبيلين جلايكول، ماء منقى و
فوسفات الصوديوم ثنائي القاعدة (لتعديل الرقم الهيدروجيني) .
مرهم: بارافين صلب، بارافين أبيض طري، كحول سيتوستيريل وبارافين سائل.
يتوفر ميكوستات في أنابيب تحتوي كلاً منها على 15 غرام من الكريم أو المرهم.

Mikostat is indicated in the treatment of cutaneous and mucocutaneous candidiasis caused by Candida albicans and other candida species.
Nystatin ointment should be applied liberally to affected areas twice a day or as indicated until healing is complete. Nystatin cream is usually preferred to nystatin ointment in candidiasis involving intertriginous areas; very moist lesions, however, are best treated with nystatin topical powder.
This preparation does not stain skin or mucous membranes and provides a simple, convenient means of treatment.”
Nystatin should not be used for the treatment of systemic, oral, intravaginal or ophthalmic infections.
If irritation or sensitization develops, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate measures taken as indicated. It is recommended that KOH smears, cultures, or other diagnostic methods be used to confirm the diagnosis of cutaneous or mucocutaneous candidiasis and to rule out infection caused by other pathogens

Animal reproductive studies have not been conducted with nystatin.
It is not known whether nystatin can cause foetal harm when administered to a pregnant woman. Nystatin should be prescribed during pregnancy only if the potential benefits to be derived outweigh the possible risks involved.
Lactaion:
It is not known whether nystatin is excreted in human breast milk and caution should be exercised when nystatin is prescribed for nursing women.

Nystatin is poorly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. In the event of accidental oral ingestion, routine measures such as gastric lavage should be performed as soon as possible after ingestion.
The active ingredient of Mikostat, Nystatin, is a polyene antibiotic having an antifungal activity against a wide variety of yeasts and yeast-like fungi. It acts by binding to sterols in the fungal cell membrane, interfering with the permeability of this membrane and allowing leakage of intracellular components.
Nystatin is not absorbed when applied topically to intact skin or mucous membranes.
