Eldoquin forte Cream contains the
active substance Hydroquinone.
This is used for reducing
hyperpigmentation of skin.
Hyperpigmentation refers to brown
skin spots which are caused by
an increase in the amount of
melanin pigment in the skin. It can
be hereditary, as in freckles, or
develop with increased age, as in
“old age spots”. It can be related
to pregnancy or from the use of
oral contraceptives, as in melasma
(also called the mask of pregnancy).
Hyperpigmentation usually develops
gradually and becomes markedly
more apparent after sun exposure
and tanning. Hyperpigmented skin
can be lightened by using a product
containing hydroquinone as its skin
bleaching agent. Hydroquinone
works by slowing down the
production of melanin pigment in
the skin. As less and less melanin
is produced the darkened skin
gradually fades to match normal
skin.

Therapeutic Indications:
Eldoquin forte Cream is indicated
for the gradual bleaching of
hyperpigmented skin conditions
such as chloasma, melasma,
freckles, senile lentigines and
other unwanted areas of melanin
hyperpigmentation. It is intended for
night-time use only since it contains
no sunblocking agents.

Do not take Eldoquin forte Cream
if you have hypersensitivity to any
of the ingredients (as mentioned in
section 6). Test for skin sensitivity
before using Eldoquin forte Cream
Cream by applying a small amount
to an unbroken patch of skin and
check in 24 hours. Minor redness
is not a contraindication, but where
there is itching or vesicle formation

or excessive inflammatory response,
further treatment is not advised.
Taking other medicines, herbal
or dietary supplements: Please
tell your doctor or pharmacist if you
are taking or have recently taken any
other medicines, including medicines
obtained without a prescription.
Taking Eldoquin forte Cream
with food and drink: No reports
available, but for more than 25 years
of use there were no reports of
food or drink-interaction with topical
hydroquinone.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist
for advice before taking any
medicine.
- Pregnancy Category C. Animal
reproduction studies have not
been conducted with topical
hydroquinone. It is also not
known whether hydroquinone
can cause fetal harm when used
topically on a pregnant woman
or affect reproductive capacity.
It is not known to what degree,
if any, topical hydroquinone is
absorbed systemically. Topical
hydroquinone should be used
in pregnant women only when
clearly indicated
- Nursing mothers. It is not known
whether topical hydroquinone is
absorbed or excreted in human
milk. Caution is advised when
topical hydroquinone is used by a
nursing mother.

Driving and using machines:
no reports available, but since
hydroquinone is topically applied it
is not expected to affect the ability to
drive or operate machines.
Important information about some
of the ingredients of Eldoquin
forte Cream
This product contains sodium
metabisulfite, a sulfite that may
cause serious allergic type reactions
(e.g. hives, itching, wheezing,
anaphylaxis, severe asthma attacks)
in certain susceptible persons.

Always take Eldoquin forte Cream
exactly as your doctor has told
you. Eldoquin forte Cream is a skin
bleaching agent which may produce
unwanted cosmetic effects if not
used as directed.
Eldoquin forte Cream should be
applied to the affected area and
rubbed in well twice daily or as
directed by a physician to achieve
maximum therapeutic potential.
Eldoquin forte Cream is intended
to be used during night hours as the
product contains no sun blocking
agent.
During the day, an effective broad
spectrum sunscreen should be
used and unnecessary solar
exposure avoided, or protective
clothing should be worn to cover
bleached skin in order to prevent
repigmentation from occuring.
If no bleaching or lightening
effect is noted after 2 months of
treatment, the medication should be
discontinued.

Do not use on children under 12
years of age unless directed by a
doctor. Safety and effectiveness in
children below the age of 12 have
not been established.
If you take more Eldoquin forte
Cream than you should
Eldoquin forte Cream is intended
for topical application and not to be

taken by mouth. If you apply more
than you should, ask a doctor or a
pharmacist.
There have been no systemic
reactions from the use of topical
hydroquinone in Eldoquin forte
Cream However, treatment should
be limited to relatively small areas
of the body at one time since some
patients experience a transient
skin reddening and a mild burning
sensation which does not preclude
treatment.
If you forget to take Eldoquin forte
Cream once, never try to make
up for the missed dose by taking a
double dose on the next day.
Keep this and all medication out of
the reach and sight of children.

Like all medicines, Eldoquin forte
Cream can cause side effects,
although not everybody gets them.
No systemic adverse reactions
have been reported. Occasional
hypersensitivity (localized contact
dermatitis) may occur in which
case the medication should be
discontinued and the physician
notified immediately.
In case of accidental ingestion, call a
physician or a poison control center
immediately
If any of the side effects gets serious,
or if you notice any side effects not
listed in this leaflet, please tell your
doctor or your pharmacist.

- Keep out of the reach and sight
of children.
- Store below 30°C.
- Store in the original pack.
- This medicine may only be used
up to the date indicated with
“EXP” on the container. The
expiry date refers to the last day
of the month.
- Medicines should not be disposed
of via wastewater or household
waste. Ask your pharmacist how
to dispose of medicines no longer
required. These measures will
help to protect the environment.
