Kapect is a palatable flavoured suspension containing kaolin, a hydrated aluminum silicate, and pectin, a purified carbohydrate product from citrus fruit rind. Kapect is a simple, safe and efficient antidiarrhoeal product which combines adsorbent, protectant and demulcent properties essential for the treatment of diarrhoea.
Kapect is used for:
- Symptomatic treatment of mild to moderately acute diarrhea in children and adults.
- As an adjuvant to rehydration therapy in treatment of diarrhea.
Do not take Kapect if:
-You are allergic (hypersensitive) to kaolin, pectin or to any of the other ingredients in Kapect (see Section 6: Further Information).
- You have fever.
- You have pseudomembranous colitis.
- You have obstructive bowel lesion.
Do not take this medicine if any of the above apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Kapect.
Take a special care if:
- You are elderly.
- You are going to give it to children younger than 3 years.
Taking other medicines:
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines. This includes medicines you buy without a prescription, particulary the following drugs: Tetracycline, chloroquine, digoxin, clindamycin, lincomycin, hydroxychloroquine, aspirin, phenothiazines, lovastin.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
- You are pregnant, might become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant.
- You are breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed.
Adults: 1 tablespoonful (15 ml) 4 – 8 times daily, or as directed by the physician.
Children 3 – 5 years: 1 teaspoonful (5 ml) 3 – 6 times daily, or as directed by the physician.
Children from 6 – 11 years: 1 tablespoonful (15 ml) 2 – 4 times daily, or as directed by the physician.
Children 12 years or older: 1 tablespoonful (15 ml) 4 times daily, or as directed by the physician.
If you take more Kapect than you should:
Talk to your doctor or go to a hospital straight away. Remember to take any medicine that is left with you so the doctor knows what you have taken.
Like all medicines, Kapect can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
The side effects are usually mild and transient, and it may include constipation.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Store in the original package, keep the bottle tightly closed.
Use Kapect before the expiry date shown on the label.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
Ask your pharmacist how to dispose medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.

كابكت معلق ذو نكهة وطعم مقبول يحتوى على الكاولين، وهو سيليكات الألومنيوم المائية، والبكتين، وهو منتج كربوهيدراتى نقى يستخرج من قشرة الموالح. إن كابكت منتج مضاد للإسهال بسيط وآمن وفعال، حيث يجمع بين خصائص الإدمصاص، الوقاية و التلطيف اللازمة لعلاج الإسهال.
يستخدم كابكت فى علاج:
- أعراض الإسهال البسيط و المتوسط عند الصغار والكبار.
- كعلاج مساعد مع علاج الجفاف لعلاج الإسهال.
يجب عدم أخذ كابكت إذا كان لديك:
- حساسية (مفرطة) من الكاولين والبكتين أو من أى من المكونات الأخرى فى المستحضر (لمزيد من المعلومات انظر الفقرة 6).
- حمى.
- إلتهاب القولون الغشائي الكاذب.
- إنسداد بالأمعاء.
لا تأخذ هذا الدواء إذا كان أى من الحالات السابقة تنطبق عليك. إذا كنت غير متأكد، تحدث إلى طبيبك أو الصيدلي قبل أخذ الدواء.
يجب توخي الحذر إذا:
-إذا كنت مسن.
-إذا كنت علي وشك إعطاء الدواء لأطفال أقل من 3 سنوات.
تناول أدوية أخرى:
يرجى إخبار الطبيب أو الصيدلى إذا كنت تأخذ أو أخذت فى الآونة الأخيرة أى أدوية أخرى، يشمل الأدويه التي تم اعطائها دون وصفه طبيه خاصة الأدوية التالية: التتراسيكيلين، كلوروكين، ديجوكسن، كلينداميسن، لينكومايسن، هيدروكسي كلوروكين، أسبرين، فينوثيازين، لوفاستين حيث يمكن أن يقلل كابكت من إمتصاص هذه الأدوية.
الحمل والرضاعة الطبيعية:
تحدثى إلى طبيبك أو الصيدلى قبل تناول هذا الدواء فى الحالات التالية:
- كنت حاملا، قد تصبحين حاملا، أو تعتقدين أنك قد تكونين حاملا.
- كنت ترضعين من الثدى أو تخططين للإرضاع.
الكبار:
ملعقة كبيرة(١٥ مل) ٤- ٨ مرات يومياً، أو حسب إرشاد الطبيب.
الأطفال سن ٣ - ٥ سنوات:
ملعقة شاى(٥ مل) ٣ - ٦ مرات يومياً، أو حسب إرشاد الطبيب.
الأطفال سن ٦ - ١١ سنة:
ملعقة كبيرة(١٥ مل) ٢ - ٤ مرات يومياً، أو حسب إرشاد الطبيب.
الأطفال سن ١٢ سنة أو أكثر:
ملعقة كبيرة (١٥ مل)٤ مرات يومياً، أو حسب إرشاد الطبيب.
عند تناول جرعة أكبر من المطلوب:
إذا أخذت جرعة أكبر من التى وصفها لك، تحدث إلى الطبيب أو إذهب إلى المستشفى على الفور. خذ العبوة و ماتبقى بها معك حتى يعرف الطبيب ماذا أخذت.
مثل جميع الأدوية، يمكن أن يسبب كابكت بعض الأعراض الجانبية، بالرغم من أنه ليس على جميع المرضى الإصابة بهذه الأعراض.
إن الأعراض الجانبية غالبا ما تكون بسيطة ومؤقتة، و يمكن أن تشمل الإمساك.
يحفظ الدواء بعيداً عن متناول الأطفال.
يحفظ الدواء فى درجة حرارة لا تزيد عن ٣٠ ˚م.
يجب عدم تناول كابكت بعد إنتهاء تاريخ الصلاحية المكتوب على العلبة، و يشير تاريخ إنتهاء الصلاحية إلى آخر يوم فى الشهر المذكور.
يجب عدم التخلص من الدواء عن طريق مياة المجارى أو عن طريق القمامة. ويجب إستشارة الصيدلى عن كيفية التخلص من الدواء الغير مستخدم، و الهدف من ذلك المحافظة على البيئة نظيفة.

-Concomitant use of pectin with lovastin may decrease absorption of lovastin from the gut.
Kapect should be used during pregnancy and lactation only when it is clearly needed.
