Allergetin syrup is a combination of pseudoephedrine hydrochloride (a decongestant for nasal congestion and sinusitis) and chlorpheniramine maleate (an antihistamine).
Allergetin Syrup is used for the symptomatic relief of:
§ Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever).
§ Vasomotor Rhinitis (Perennial Rhinitis).
§ Nasal Congestion associated with Common Cold.
§ Sinusitis.
Allergetin Syrup should not be taken if:
1. You are allergic (hypersensitive) to any of the ingredients of Allergetin Syrup.
2. Your child is less than 6 years old because there is no evidence that it works and can cause side effects, such as allergic reactions, effects on sleep or hallucinations.
3. You have severe hypertension or severe cardiovascular diseases.
4. You are under treatment or have been treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors within the preceding two weeks. Serious and life threatening side effects may occur.
5. You are pregnant or breast feeding mother unless prescribed by the physician.
Take special care with Allergetin Syrup:
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Allergetin Syrup in the following cases:
§ If your child is (6-12) years, Allergetin Syrup should be dispensed on medical advice by pharmacists.
§ If you have hypertension and heart diseases, asthma, epilepsy, glaucoma, diabetes, prostatic hypertrophy, liver diseases & hyperthyroidism.
Allergetin Syrup may cause drowsiness so caution should be taken when driving or operating machinery.
Consult the physician if symptoms did not improve within 7 days or if the symptoms are accompanied with high temperature.
Taking other medicines
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, or have recently taken any other medicines. This includes medicines you buy without a prescription and herbal medicines. Allergetin Syrup can affect the way that some medicines work and some medicines can have an effect on Allergetin Syrup.
In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines:
§ Sympathomimetic agents, such as other decongestants, appetite suppressants and Amphetamine with this medicine may occasionally cause a rise in blood pressure because of the interaction with pseudoephedrine in Allergetin Syrup.
§ Antihypertensive drugs such as beta, alpha-adrenergic blockers and methyl dopa, because the concomitant use of any of them with Allergetin Syrup may reduce their effect because of the presence of pseudoephedrine in Allergetin Syrup.
§ Other antihistamines and central nervous system depressants with Allergetin Syrup, because it may potentiate the sedative side effects of them.
Taking Allergetin Syrup with food & drink
Allergetin Syrup can be taken with or without food.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Allergetin Syrup if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
Driving and using tools and machinery:
Allergetin Syrup may cause drowsiness so avoid driving & operating machinery until you have determined your own response.
Importrant information about some of the ingredients of Allergetin Syrup
Allergetin Syrup contains saccharin sodium, If you have been told by your doctor that you cannot tolerate or digest this ingredient (have intolerance to it), talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
Always take Allergetin Syrup as your doctor has told you to. You should check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Unless determined by the physician the dosage should be repeated every 4 to 6 hours daily as following:
§ Children 6-12 years: should be dispensed on medical advice by pharmacist, one teaspoonful (5 ml).
§ Adults & children > 12 years: 2 teaspoonful (10 ml).
If you take more Allergetin Syrup than you should:
- Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital for medical advice.
- Symptoms of Allergetin Syrup overdosage include: blurred vision, severe drowsiness, hallucinations, severe dizziness, headache, seizures, fast or slow heart beats and vomiting.
If you forgot to take Allergetin Syrup dose:
Take it as soon as you remember. However; if it is almost time for the next dose, wait until then, and take the next dose as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.
Like all medicines, Allergetin Syrup can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Important side effects to look out for are:
Drowsiness, insomnia, anxiety, palpitation, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances, restlessness, urinary retention, headache and skin rashes.
If any of the side effects get serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, please tell your doctor or pharmacist.
§ Keep in a safe place, out of the reach and sight of children.
§ Store below 30° C.
§ Protect from light.
§ Use within 3 months after opening.
§ Do not take Allergetin Syrup after the expiry date printed on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines that are no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
What Allergetin Syrup contains
The active substances in each (5 ml) teaspoonful are:
Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride 30 mg.
Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg.
The excipients are:
Citric acid monohydrate, saccharin sodium, sodium benzoate, sorbitol solution, glycerol, essence raspberry 501090A & Distilled water.

ن شراب ألیرجیتین هو مزيج من سودوإفیدرین ھیدروكلورید (مزيل لاحتقان الأنف و الجيوب الأنفية) و كلورفینیرامین مالییت (مضاد هيستاميني).
يستخدم شراب ألیرجیتین للتخفيف من أعراض:
• حساسية الأنف الموسمية (حمى القش)
• التهاب أوعية الأنف الحركية (التهاب الأنف المتكرر)
• احتقان الأنف المصاحب لنزلات البرد و الزكام
• التهاب الجيوب الأنفية
لا يسمح بتناول شراب ألیرجیتین في الحالات التالية:
۱. إذا كنت تعاني من حالة الحساسية المفرطة تجاه أي من مكوناته.
۲. إذا كان عمر طفلك أقل من ٦ سنوات لعدم ثبات فعاليته في هذه الفترة العمرية، و لأنه قد يسبب آثار جانبية مثل: تفاعلات حساسية، التأثير على النوم و الهلوسة.
۳. إذا كنت تعاني من الارتفاع الحاد في ضغط الدم أو أي أمراض قلبية وعائية حادة.
٤. إذا كنت تتناول أو سبق أن تناولت العلاج بمثبطات أوكسیداز أحادي الأمين خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين، حيث أن هناك احتمالية حدوث آثار جانبية خطيرة تهدد حياة المريض.
٥. خلال فترة الحمل و الرضاعة إلا إذا قرر الطبيب المختص ذلك.
الاحتياطات عند الاستعمال:
قبل تناول شراب ألیرجیتین يجب عليك استشارة الطبيب أو الصيدلي في الحالات التالية:
§ الاطفال من ٦ – ۱۲ سنة يصرف من قبل الصيدلي بعد الاستشارة الطبية.
§ حالات مرضى ارتفاع ضغط الدم و مرضى القلب، حالات الربو و الصرع، الجلوكوما، حالات مرضى السكري، و حالات تضخم البروستاتا، المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات في وظائف الكبد و حالات فرط إفراز الغدة الدرقية.
إذا لم تتحسن الأعراض خلال سبعة أيام أو إذا كانت الأعراض مصحوبة بارتفاع في درجة الحرارة فيجب عليك مراجعة الطبيب.
قد يسبب شراب ألیرجیتین النعاس لذا يجب توخي الحذر عند قيادة المركبات أو تشغيل المكنات.
التداخلات الدوائية:
عليك أن تعلم الطبيب أو الصيدلي إذا كنت تتناول أو تناولت مؤخرا أي أدوية أخرى بما فيها تلك التي حصلت عليها بدون وصفة طبية. قد تؤثر بعض الأدوية الأخرى على طريقة عمل شراب ألیرجیتین أو قد يؤثر شراب ألیرجیتین على طريقة عمل بعض الأدوية.
عليك أن تعلم الطبيب أو الصيدلي إذا كنت تتناول أيًا من الأدوية التالية:
§ العقاقير ذات النشاط السمبثاوي كمضادات الاحتقان و كوابت الشهية و المنبهات النفسية المماثلة للأمفیتامین، حيث أن تناولها بالتزامن مع هذا الدواء قد يؤدي إلى ارتفاع ضغط الدم بسبب تفاعلها مع مادة السودوإفیدرین الموجودة في شراب ألیرجیتین .
§ الأدوية المخفضة لضغط الدم ذات الفعل السمبثاوي مثل مثبطات ألفا و بيتا الأدرينالية و الميثيل دوبا، حيث أن تناولها بالتزامن مع هذا الدواء قد يقلل من تأثيرها بسبب وجود مادة السودوإفیدرین في شراب ألیرجیتین.
§ مضادات الهيستامين الأخرى و مثبطات الجهاز العصبي المركزي، حيث أن تناولها بالتزامن مع شراب ألیرجیتین قد يزيد من التأثير المهدئ لهذه الأدوية.
تأثير تناول الطعام و الشراب على شراب ألیرجیتین:
يمكن تناول شراب الألیرجیتین مع أو بدون الطعام.
الحمل والرضاعة:
إذا كنتِ حاملًا أو أمًا مرضعة يجب عليكِ استشارة الطبيب أو الصيدلاني قبل تناول هذا الدواء.
التأثير على القيادة و استخدام الآلات:
قد يسبب شراب ألیرجیتین النعاس لذا تجنب القيادة و تشغيل الآلات إلى أن تحدد مدى تأثير هذا الدواء عليك.
معلومات هامة حول بعض مكونات شراب ألیرجیتین:
يحتوي شراب ألیرجیتین على سكارين الصوديوم، إذا أخبرك طبيبك إنك لا تستطيع تناول هذه المادة (تعاني من فرط حساسية تجاهها)، استشر طبيبك قبل تناول هذا الدواء.
تناول شراب ألیرجیتین دائمًا حسب وصفة طبيبك. يجب عليك التحقق مع طبيبك أو مع الصيدلي إذا لم تكن واثقًا.
مالم يتم تحديد الجرعة من قبل الطبيب المختص يؤخذ ألیرجیتین كل ٤ - ٦ ساعات يوميًا كالتالي:
§ للأطفال من ٦ - ۱۲ سنة يصرف من قبل الصيدلي بعد الاستشارة الطبية، ملعقة صغيرة (٥ مل)
§ البالغين و الأطفال أكبر من ۱۲ سنة: ملعقتان صغيرتان (۱۰ مل).
إذا تناولت شراب ألیرجیتین أكثر من الكمية الموصى بها:
عليك الاتصال بالطبيب أو الذهاب إلى أقرب مستشفى لطلب المشورة الطبية.
أعراض تناول جرعة زائدة من شراب ألیرجیتین :
اضطراب في الرؤية، نعاس شديد، هلوسة، دوخة، صداع، اختلاجات، تسارع أو بطء في نبضات القلب و قيء.
إذا حدثت مثل هذه الأعراض يجب طلب الاستشارة الطبية فورًا.
إذا نسيت تناول جرعة من شراب ألیرجیتین:
يجب تناولها حال تذكرك ما لم يقترب موعد الجرعة التالية. لا تأخذ جرعة مضاعفة لتعويض الجرعة التي نسيت تناولها.
ما في جميع الأدوية، قد يسبب شراب ألیرجیتین تأثيرات جانبية و مع ذلك قد لا تحدث مع كل الأشخاص.
الآثار الجانبية الهامة التي قد تحدث تشمل: شعور بالنعاس، أرق، قلق، خفقان، جفاف في الفم، اضطرابات هضمية، شعور بعدم الراحة، احتباس بولي، صداع و طفح جلدي.
يرجي إخبار الطبيب، أو الصيدلي إذا أصبحت إحدى تلك الآثار الجانبية خطيرة أو إذا لاحظت حدوث آثار جانبية غير مذكورة في هذه النشرة.
§ احفظ الدواء في مكان آمن بعيدًا عن متناول و نظر الأطفال.
§ يحفظ في درجة حرارة أقل من ۳۰ درجة مئوية.
§ يحفظ بعيدًا عن الضوء.
§ يستخدم خلال ۳ أشهر من فتح العبوة.
§ لا تأخذ شراب ألیرجیتین بعد تاريخ انتهاء الصلاحية المطبوع على العبوة. تاريخ الانتهاء يشير إلى اليوم الأخير من الشهر.
يجب أن لا يتم التخلص من الأدوية عن طريق مياه الصرف الصحي أو النفايات المنزلية. اسأل الصيدلي عن كيفية التخلص من الأدوية التي لم تعد مطلوبة. و سوف تساعد هذه التدابير على حماية البيئة.

Allergetin is used for the symptomatic relief of:

§ Allergetin may potentiate the sedative side effects when concomitantly used with other antihistamines and central nervous system depressants.
Not to be used during pregnancy and lactation without prior consultant with a medical practitioner. Pseudoephedrine is excreted in breast milk in small amounts.
Allergetin may cause drowsiness, if affected do not drive or operate machinery. The drowsiness may be potentiated by alcohol or other central sedatives.
The following side effects may happen during treatment:
Drowsiness, insomnia, anxiety, palpitation, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances, restlessness, urinary retention, headache and skin rashes.

Symptoms
Blurred vision, severe drowsiness, hallucinations, severe dizziness, headache, seizures, fast or slow heart beats and vomiting.
Treatment
Overdose should be treated by general symptomatic and supportive means. In the event of gross overdose the stomach may be emptied by airways protective gastric lavage. If consciousness is impaired or if respiration or circulatory difficulties are evident, appropriate supportive measures should be taken to maintain a patient's airway and to stabilise cardiovascular function. Convulsions should be controlled by immediate appropriate measures.

Mode of Action:
Pseudoephedrine has direct and indirect sympathomimetic activity and is an orally effective upper respiratory tract decongestant.
Pseudoephedrine is substantially less potent than ephedrine in producing both tachycardia and elevation in systolic blood pressure and considerably less potent in causing stimulation of the central nervous system.
Chlorphenamine is one of the most potent anti-histamines. It is useful in the control of symptoms which are allergic in origin. It helps to provide relief from nasal stuffiness and watering of the eyes.
Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride is readily and completely absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. It is resistant to metabolism by monoamine oxidase and is largely excreted unchanged in the urine.
Chlorphenamine maleate is absorbed relatively slowly from the gastrointestinal tract and peak plasma concentrations occur between 2.5 and 6 hours after oral administration. It is reported that only 25 to 50% of an oral dose is absorbed as it appears that chlorphenamine undergoes considerable first pass metabolism. Metabolites include desmethyl- and didesmethylchlorphenamine. Chlorphenamine distributes widely in the body and penetrates into the CNS. In the circulation, about 70% of chlorphenamine is bound to plasma proteins.
Excretion of unchanged drug and metabolites is mainly via the urine and is dependent on urinary pH and flow rate. The elimination half-life is widely variable and has been reported to range from 2 to 43 hours. However, the duration of action is only 4-6 hours which is shorter than might be predicted.
It is reported that in children, absorption is faster and more extensive, and there is a quicker clearance with a shorter half-life.
There is insufficient information available to determine whether some of the active ingredients have mutagenic, carcinogenic, teratogenic potential, or the potential to impair fertility.
