Sodium cromoglycate inhibits the degranulation of sensitized mast cells, preventing the
release of histamine and other inflammation mediators. It has none of the collateral
effects of the antihistamines, corticosteroids, anticholinergic or vasoconstricting agents.
It has a good tolerance and can be combined with other preparations administered by
topical or systemic route. Apicrom used for the treatment of allergic ocular conditions:
vernal conjunctivitis, chronic conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis or vernal keratitis.
Allergies caused by the use of contact lenses.

Do not take Apicrom 4%
- If you or your child are sensitive to sodium cromoglicate or any other ingredient.
- In children under 6 years of age.
Take special care and tell your doctor:
-If you wear soft contact lenses (see the note at the end).
- For other allergic eye symptoms (not caused by hayfever). Other things in everyday
life can start allergies causing eye symptoms in certain people. For example contact
with animals including pets, house dust mites, other particles and chemicals. in this case
Talk to your pharmacist or doctor.
You can be sure allergic eyes are caused by hayfever if:
Both eyes are affected, You also have a runny or blocked nose, Your eye sight is not
affected and You know you suffer from hayfever and your symptoms coincide with the
times of the year when grass or tree pollen is high.

- your eyes are no better after 2 days of using the eye drops,
- you find you need to use them continuously for more than 14 days
Taking other medicines
There are no known important interactions between Sodium Cromoglicate and other
medicines. If you experience any unusual symptoms while using Sodium Cromoglicate
and other medicines you should tell your doctor.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding
Talk to your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might become
pregnant or think you may be pregnant. If you are breast-feeding or planning to
breast-feed, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking or using any medicine.
Driving and using machines
This medicine can cause blurred vision for a few minutes after use. If this happens, do not
drive or operate machinery until you can see normally again.

Always use Apicrom 4% exactly as your doctor has told you. You should check with
your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults (including the elderly) and children over six years:
dosage: Normally one or two drops in each eye 4 to 6 times a day, at regular intervals.
The number of daily applications and length of treatment can be modified in accordance
with physician’s criteria. Symptomatic response to therapy is evident within a few days,
although treatment of up to 6 weeks is sometimes required. Therapy should be
continued for as long as needed to sustained improvement.
Directions for use as eye drops:
- Wash your hands before using the drops, and remove the cap.
- Tilt your head back and carefully pull down your lower eyelid.
- Put one or two drops into your lower lid and then blink a few times to make sure your
whole eye is covered by the liquid.
(Be careful not to touch the tip of the bottle on your eye or on any other surface. Ocular
Solutions, if handled wrongly, can become contaminated by common bacteria and cause
eye infections).
- Replace the cap securely on the bottle.
If you use more of this medicine than you should
due to the characteristics of this preparation, intended for topical use, no toxic effects
are expected with the use of this product at the recommended dose nor in the event of
accidental ingestion of the contents of a bottle,consult physician or a Poison Control
Center.
If you forget to use Apicrom 4%
If you forget a dose, use your drops as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use a double dose to make up for
a forgotten dose.

If you stop using Apicrom 4%
Even if your symptoms have got better, you should keep using these drops if you are still
around the things that you are allergic to. Apicrom 4% can prevent you getting an
allergic reaction so if you stop using it, your allergy symptoms may come back.
If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or
pharmacist.

Like all medicines, these drops can cause side effects, although not everybody gets
them. All medicines can cause allergic reactions, although serious allergic reactions
are very rare.
- Tell your doctor straight away if you get any sudden wheeziness, difficulty in breathing,
swelling of the eyelids, face or lips, rash, or itching (especially affecting your whole
body).
- Your eyes may sting a little just after you use the drops. If they sting badly, or if your
eyes get worse, stop using the drops and tell your doctor or pharmacist.
- You may also experience blurred vision for a short time after application.
other side effects:
It may cause stinging or irritation which disappear during the first days of treatment.

-Store up to 30°C.
-Discard the bottle after 4 weeks from first opening.
