- Polyvalent Scorpion Antivenom is F(ab`)2 fractions of the immunoglobulin against venoms of scorpion from Arabian Peninsula.
- Polyvalent Scorpion Antivenom used for treatment of envenomation by scorpion stings. Effective treatment depends on the intravenous injection of the antivenom as soon as possible after the scorpion
sting and in appropriate doses.
- Take special care when using Polyvalent Scorpion Antivenom if you are allergic to equine (horse) protein
- No contra indication during pregnancy or breast feeding.
Five 1 ml ampoules are to be diluted in 20-50 ml half normal saline and infused intravenously slowly over a period of 30 minutes. The dose is to be repeated if necessary, up to 20 x 1 ml ampoules. One quarter normal saline is to be used for infants and children up to 6 years. Although of questionable value, a BESREDKA test should be carried out before administering the antivenom. This is done by injecting 0.1 ml of the antivenom intradermal. CHILDREN MUST BE GIVEN THE SAME DOSE OF ANTIVENOM AS ADULTS.
Like all medicine, polyvalent scorpion antivenom can cause side effect, although not everybody get them.
The NAVPC polyvalent scorpion antivenom is a refined highly purified preparation. Despite its low protein content and high purity both early and late allergic reactions can occur in susceptible patients. Because of the pharmacologic effects of scorpion venom in causing massive release of tissue and medullary catecholamines, the incidence of such allergic reactions is rather low. The early (anaphylactoid) reactions are treated by the Classical therapeutic measures using adrenaline, hydrocortisone and antihistamines. The late (delayed) reactions respond well to treatment by prednisolone orally.

- Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
- The NAVPC polyvalent scorpion antivenom should be stored at 2-8 °C protect from light. Don’t freeze.
- Store in original carton.
- The shelf life under these conditions is 3 years.
- Do not use polyvalent scorpion antivenom after the expiry date which is stated on the label.
- Do not use polyvalent scorpion antivenom if the solution become turbid.
- Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This measure will help protect the environment.
- The active substance of Polyvalent scorpion antivenom is purified F(ab`)2 fractions of the immunoglobulin that neutralized 50 LD50 Minimum of Arabian Peninsula scorpion venoms.
- The other ingredient of Polyvalent scorpion antivenom are:

مصل العقرب متعدد الفاعلية ذو تخصصية عالية في معادلة سموم عقارب شبة الجزيرة العربية ليورس كوينكويسترياتس (العقرب الأصفر) واندروكتونس كراسيكودا (العقرب الأسود).
يعتمد العلاج الفعال للدغة العقرب على الحقن الوريدي للمصل في أسرع وقت ممكن بعد اللدغة وفي جرعات مناسبة.
خذ احتياطك بشكل خاص عند استعمال المصل متعدد الفاعلية ضد سم العقرب إذا كنت تعاني من حساسية من بروتين الخيول.
تخفف خمس (5) أمبولات سعة 1سم3 من المصل في 20 - 50سم3 من محلول ملح نصف فسيولوجي وتسرب وريدياً ببطء خلال فترة ثلاثين دقيقة. وتكرر الجرعة عند الحاجة حتى عشرين أمبولة كل منها 1سم3 ويستخدم محلول ملح ربع فسيولوجي للرضع والأطفال حتى سن 6 سنوات. ورغم أن قيمته مثار تساؤل إل أنه يجب إجراء اختبار بسريديكا للحساسية قبل إعطاء المصل وذلك بحقن 0.1سم3 من المصل في الجلد
مصل العقرب متعدد الفاعلية هو مصل عالي النقاوة معالج إنزيمياً. ورغم نقاوته العالية وانخفاض محتواه من البروتينات إلا أن تفاعلات حساسية مبكرة أومتأخرة قد تحدث في بعض الأفراد. ونظراً لأن سم العقرب بطبيعته يسبب إطلاق كميات كبيرة من أمينات الكاتيكول من الأنسجة ونخاع الكظر فإن حدوث مثل هذه التفاعلات منخفض نوعاً. وتعالج التفاعلات المبكرة (العورانية) بالطرق العلاجية الكلاسيكية باستخدام الأدرينالين والهيدروكورتيزون ومضادات الحساسية. وتستجيب التفاعلات المتأخرة (الأجلة) للمعالجة بالبردنيزولون عن طريق الفم.
يحفظ مصل العقرب متعدد الفاعلية في الثلاجة عند درجة حرارة ٢- ٨°م بعيداً عن الضوء، لا تعرض المستحضر للتجميد. تكون صلاحية المصل لمدة ثلاث سنوات تحت هذه الظروف.

- Pregnancy; animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with the polyvalent scorpion antivenom. It is also not known whether antivenom can cause fetal harm when administed to a pregnant woman or can affect reproduction capacity. However, antivenom should be given to a pregnant woman only if clearly needed.
- Nursing mothers; it is not known whether antivenom is excreted in human breast milk or not. Because many drugs are excreted in human milk caution should be exercised when antivenom is administered to a nursing mother.

Immunologic interaction of the specific immunoglobulin fractions with the antigenic sites in the toxins and other active components in the venoms resulting in blocking of the active toxicologic sites in the molecules. The strong binding of the venom antivenom molecules in the central compartment (blood) will also cause shift of venom molecules from their binding receptors in the tissues into the central compartment and thus facilitates elimination
The pharmacokinetics of the polyvalent Scorpion Antivenom is similar to the pharmacokinetics of other intravenous medications. Through a constant rate of administration, Antivenom is delivered to the central compartment, as an intravenous infusion. Antivenom then distributes to other tissue compartments and organs of the body. Elimination is mainly by the renal. Reduction of Antivenom concentration in the central compartment is due to both distribution and elimination processes. The presence of Scorpion venom in circulation creates venom-Antivenom complex and leads to reduction of free Antivenom concentrations in the circulation. F(ab`)2 Antivenom with smaller molecular mass has a large volume of distribution. Intravenously administered F(ab`)2 Antivenom express biphasic decline in the circulation. After an initial rapid decrease (distribution phase) of venom in the circulation, there is a slower first order decline (terminal elimination phase). This is best described by a two compartment pharmacokinetic model.
