Secnid® Tablets contains Secnidazole 500 mg.
It is indicated in:
- Intestinal and hepatic amoebiasis.
- Trichomal infections of urogenital tract.
Do not use Secnid® Tablets and tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have:
- Hypersensitivity to any component in the drug.
- In cases of epilepsy or organic CNS disease.
Take special care with Secnid® Tablets
- Secnid® should be used with great care in patients with blood dyscrasias or with active disease of the central nervous system.
- Precautions must be taken if SECNID is taken concurrently with alcohol or drugs formulated with alcohol as it may provoke a disulfiram like reaction in some individuals.
Using other medicines
Concurrent use of Secnid® with disulfiram may cause acute psychosis or confusion.

Adults:
- Acute intestinal amoebiasis:
4 tablets taken as a single dose for one day.
- Hepatic amoebiasis:
3 tablets taken as single dose for 5 days.
- Urogenital trichomoniasis:
4 tablets taken as a single dose for one day.
Children:
- Acute intestinal amoebiasis:
30 mg / kg body weight as a single or several divided doses for one day.
- Hepatic amebiasis:
30 mg/ kg body weight as a single dose or several divided doses for 5 days.
It may cause in few cases gastro-intestinal disturbances especially nausea and vomiting. It may cause headache. Anorexia or rarely Pseudo membranous colitis (PMC).
- Store at temperature not exceeding 30 °C.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Do not use Secnid® Tabletsafter the expiry date (EXP) which is stated on the box and blister.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment.
The active substance is: Secnidazole. Each tablet contains Secnidazole 500 mg.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, Maize starch, sodium starch glycollate, Colloidal silicon dioxide and Magnesium stearate.

سكنید® أقراص یحتوي كل قرص یحتوي: سیكنیدازول ٥۰۰ ملجم
- الإصابات الأمیبیة للأمعاء والكبد.
- إصابة الجھاز البولي والتناسلي بالوحیدات المشعرة.
لا تتناول سكنید® أقراص وأخبر طبیبك أو الصیدلي إذا كنت تعاني من:
- حالات الصرع أو الحالات التي عندھا إصابة عضویة بالمخ.
إتبع عنایھ خاصھ مع تناول سكنید® أقراص
- یجب تناول سكنید® أقراص مع الحذر الشدید فى حالات المرضي الذین عندھم أمراض الدم أو إعتلال نشط بالجھاز العصبي المركزي.
- یجب أخذ الإحتیاط إذا تم تناول سكنید® أقراص مع الكحول أو الأدویة التي تحتوي على الكحول.
الحمل والرضاعة الطبیعیة
حالات الحمل وخصوصا أثناء الثلاث أشھر الأولى من الحمل وحالات الإرضاع.
القیادة وإستخدام الآلات

الجرعة:
- أصابات الأمعاء الأمیبیة الحادة:
٤ أقراص كجرعھ واحدة لیوم واحد فقط.
- إصابات الكبد الأمیبیة:
۳ أقراص كجرعھ واحدة یومیا لمدة ٥ أیام.
- إصابات الجھاز البولي التناسلي بالوحیدات المشعرة: ٤ أقراص جرعھ واحدة لمدة یوم واحد فقط.
الأطفال:
- إصابات الأمعاء الأمیبیة الحادة: ۳۰ ملجم / كجم من وزن الجسم كجرعة یومیة واحدة أو مقسمة علي جرعات لمدة یوم واحد فقط.
- إصابات الكبد الأمیبیة :۳۰ ملجم / كجم من وزن الجسم كجرعھ واحدة یومیا أو مقسمة على جرعات ولمدة ٥ أیام.
قد یسبب إستعمال سكنید® بعض الإضرابات بالجھاز المعدي والمعوي خصوصا الغثیان والقئ عند حالات قلیلة من المرضي.
قد یسبب استعمال سكنید® الصداع وقلة الشھوة للطعام ونادرا ما یسبب إلتھاب الغشاء الكاذب القولوني.
يحفظ سكنید® أقراص٥یحفظ في درجة حرارة لا تزید عن ۳۰ م°
-احفظھ بعیدا عن متناول الأطفال.
-لا تستخدم سكنید® أقراص بعد تاریخ انتھاء الصلاحیة المذكور على العلبة EXP.
والشریط بعد كلمة اسأل الصیدلي حول كیفیة التخلص من الأدویة التي لم تعد مطلوبة. وینبغي أن لا یتم التخلص من الأدویة عن طریق میاه الصرف الصحي أو النفایات المنزلیة. وستساعد ھذه التدابیر على حمایة البیئ

المكونات الأخرى ھي:الصودیوم، ستیرات مغنسیوم، ثاني اكسید السیلیكون الغرویة
یبدو على ھیئة أقراص بیضاء دائریة مسطحھ غیر مغلفة. یوجد سكنید في علبة كرتون تحتوي على شریط بھ ٤ اقراص ونشرة داخلیة

Oral administration
Adults:

If recently taken, it is recommended to carry out gastric lavage then continuation of treatment, if necessary. Should be symptomatic and supportive.
Secnidazole is a 5-nitroinlidawle derivative. It has antiamoebiasis and antitricomoniasis action. It has also a bactericidal activity or antibacterial activity against many obligate anaerobic bacteria such as Bactericides’ and Clostridium species. It has also activity against the facultative anaerobes
Gardnella vaginalis and Helicobacter pylori and against some Spirochetes.
Secnidazole is absorbed following oral administration. It reaches the blood with a half life of about 20 hours. It crosses the placenta and it is excreted in urine and to a small extent in nursing milk. It is metabolized in liver.
