ClariSpray Original is a Nasal Spray solution, a white to off white gel like solution with a pH range of 4.3 to 5.0. ClariSpray Original contains the active ingredient Oxymetazoline Hydrochloride 0.5mg/ml CalriSpray Original is indicated for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion due to hay fever, common cold and sinusitis. ClariSpray Original is indicated in adults and children aged 6 years and over. It stays where you spray it without messy dripping from your nose or down your throat. It starts to work in minutes providing up to 12 hours of nasal congestion relief that lasts All-Day or All-Night.
 

ClariSpray Original should not be used:
- in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients or with known sensitivity to sympathomimetic agents.
- by patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or in patients who have taken MAOIs in the previous two weeks.
- in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma.
- by patients after trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy.
- where there is demonstrated hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to any ingredient in the product.
- where there is inflammation of the skin and mucosa of the nasal vestibule and encrustation (rhinitis sicca).
- by patients with acute coronary disease or cardiac asthma.
Special warnings and precautions for use:
- ClariSpray Original should be used with caution in patients with coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland unless directed by a doctor.
- Prolonged use may result in rebound congestion (may cause nasal congestion to recur or worsen). As with all topical decongestants, continuous use is not recommended for longer than one week.
- The preservative (Benzalkonium Chloride) contained in ClariSpray Original may cause irritation or swelling inside the nose, especially if used for a long time. Benzyl Alcohol may cause allergic reactions.
Children and adolescents:
ClariSpray Original should not be used in children aged 6 years and under.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Concomitant use of tricyclic antidepressants, maprotiline or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI), may potentiate the pressor effects of Oxymetazoline.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility:
If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
ClariSpray Original can be used in pregnant women if used as recommended. Caution should be exercised in patients with hypertension or signs of reduced placental perfusion. Frequent or prolonged use of high doses may reduce placental perfusion. ClariSpray Original should not be used during breastfeeding. There are no data available on male and female fertility.
Driving and use machines:
ClariSpray Original has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.
Overdose:
Symptoms of moderate or severe overdose can be mydriasis, nausea, cyanosis, fever, spasms, tachycardia, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, hypertension, oedema of the lungs, dyspnoea, psychic disturbance. The inhibition of functions of the central nervous system such as somnolence, lowering of the body temperature, bradycardia, shock like hypotension, apnoea and loss of consciousness is also possible.
A nonselective alpha- lytic such as phentolamine may be administered to depress the increased blood pressure. Intubation and artificial respiration may be necessary in serious cases. In the case of moderate or severe inadvertent oral consumption, the administration of activated carbon (absorbent) and sodium sulphate (laxative) or perhaps gastro-lavage in the case of large amounts should be undertaken. Further treatment is supportive and symptomatic. Vasopressor drugs are contraindicated.

Adults and Children over 10 years: 1-2 sprays in each nostril every 12 hours. Children 6-10 years: 1 spray in each nostril, every 12 hours. Not more than a total of 8 sprays for adults (4 for children) should be given in any 24 hours. Do not exceed the stated dose. ClariSpray Original should not be used for longer than 7 days, unless prescribed by your doctor. An interval of several days should elapse before re-administration of the product. Shake well before use. Before first use, prime the unit by depressing the pump several times until the first full spray is achieved. Whilst holding upright the spray nozzle should be inserted into each nostril in turn and squeezed firmly one or two times whilst breathing in. Do not use if seal on bottle is broken or missing.

Possible side effects:
ClariSpray Original is generally well tolerated and side effects, should they occur, are usually mild and transitory. The side effect most often mentioned is local sensation of dryness of the nasal mucosa. Uncommon local effects are stinging and burning. Benzalkonium chloride and Benzyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions.
Rare side effects: anxiety, sedative effect, irritability, sleep disorders in children, headache, visual disturbances, tachycardia, palpitations, reactive hyperaemia, increased blood pressure, nausea & exanthema. 
Uncommon side effects: sneezing, dryness and irritation in nose, mouth and throat and rebound congestion.
